The head of the statue that was discovered in the ongoing excavations in Denizli will shake the world of archeology. This is the most accurate and well kept statue of Emperor Augustus, the founder of the Roman Empire, that has been found to date.
In the excavations that are ongoing in the ancient city of Laodikya (near the village of Eskihisar in Denizli), the head of a statue of the first Roman emperor, Augustus, who brought an end to the Roman Republican era, was found. The leader of the excavation team in Laodikya, Prof. Dr. Celal Simsek, recently stated that the head of the statue that was found is the most valuable and greatest out of all the statues of Emperor Augustus, the most powerful and most important emperor of the Roman Empire.
