Borsa İstanbul will hold a shortened session on Wednesday, 28 October, and stay closed on Thursday, 29 October, for Republic Day, according to the exchange’s official 2026 holiday tables. Settlement dates for share trades this week have been moved as a result.

Equity market

The holiday table for the equity market (Pay Piyasası) states that a half-day session will be held on Wednesday and no session on Thursday. No settlement (takas) will take place on Wednesday.

Under the table, trades made on Monday, 26 October, settle on Friday, 30 October. Trades made on Tuesday, 27 October, and Wednesday, 28 October, settle on Monday, 2 November. Investors selling shares this week should plan around those dates.

The equity table does not state the exact closing time of Wednesday’s session. Investors who plan to trade on Wednesday should check the session times with their broker or on the Borsa İstanbul website.

Precious metals market

The table for the precious metals market (Kıymetli Madenler Piyasası) is more specific: the normal session will run until 13:00 on Wednesday, without the single-price and fixing sessions. Delivery will take place but settlement will not, and the nearest settlement date for Wednesday’s trades is Friday, 30 October. There will be no session, settlement or delivery on Thursday. According to the table, gold and silver fixing orders and trades do not take place on official or half-day holidays.

The wider holiday

Wednesday afternoon is a half-day public holiday starting at 13:00, and Thursday marks the 103rd anniversary of the Republic. Under the tables, settlement resumes on Friday, 30 October.

Other Republic Day arrangements for residents include free rides on Marmaray, İZBAN, Başkentray and the Istanbul airport metro on 29 October and road closures around Vatan Avenue in Istanbul for the parade.
