The final round of this year’s Turkish Motocross Championship got under way in Fethiye on Saturday, with 112 riders from 30 provinces competing for the season’s titles, the Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
The races are being held at the Akdeniz Offroad Park in Fethiye’s Esenköy neighbourhood. The event is organised by the Turkish Motorcycle Federation (Türkiye Motosiklet Federasyonu, TMF), Fethiye Municipality and the local club Fethiye Orman Spor Kulübü. Organisers expect around 10,000 spectators over the weekend, according to AA.
Titles to be settled in Fethiye
The Fethiye meeting is the sixth and last leg of the championship, which means the national champions in each class will be decided on the Muğla track. Serkan Özdemir, the TMF’s provincial representative and president of Fethiye Orman Spor Kulübü, told AA that the season’s champions would be determined in Fethiye because it hosts the final round.
The remaining races are scheduled for Sunday, 25 October, when the championship closes.
Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing on closed dirt circuits with jumps, tight bends and uneven ground. In Türkiye the national series is run under the TMF, the country’s governing body for motorcycle sport, with rounds held in different provinces over the season.
A busy sporting weekend on the coast
The motocross final adds to a crowded weekend of events in the Fethiye area and along the wider coast. In Fethiye itself, the Ölüdeniz Air Games festival, with paragliding and air shows over the lagoon, is due to wrap up on Sunday as well. Elsewhere in Muğla, an international open-water swimming series is holding its final in Marmaris, while Alanya in Antalya province is hosting a triathlon this weekend.
The events fall after the main beach season. Resorts on the Aegean and Mediterranean have been stretching the season into a so-called yellow summer with autumn sport, culture and nature tourism. Air links are also growing, with new direct flights from Dalaman and Bodrum to Germany planned for summer 2027.
For residents and visitors, the races offer a chance to see national-level riders at close range. Those considering a longer stay or a home in the area can find practical information on neighbourhoods, costs and services in our guide to living in Fethiye.
