A lottery for 2,028 units in the first stage of the Orta and Dumlupınar urban renewal project in Istanbul’s Pendik district was held on Thursday with Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum attending, Anadolu Agency (AA) and İhlas News Agency (İHA) reported.
The draw covered 1,747 homes and 281 workplaces, according to both agencies.
Bigger discount for Pendik owners
Kurum said the 40 per cent discount on construction costs planned for the project’s owners would be raised to 60 per cent, AA and İHA reported. Owners will be able to pay their share over 180 months in monthly instalments of around 10,000 lira, both agencies said.
Kurum also repeated that the state’s "Yarısı Bizden" (Half Is On Us) urban renewal support in Istanbul has been extended to 31 December 2027, AA and İHA reported. TOKİ rental homes from 10,000 lira
The minister said the first 1,071 homes in TOKİ’s rental social housing programme in Istanbul would be handed over to tenants next month, with rents starting at 10,000 lira a month, according to AA and İHA. TOKİ, the state Housing Development Administration, will rent out a total of 15,000 homes in 12 Istanbul districts, the agencies reported.
Kurum said 100,000 social homes had been set aside for Istanbul under the "Ev Sahibi Türkiye" (Homeowner Türkiye) campaign, and that 5,500 of the 25,000 social homes under construction in Arnavutköy had been completed, AA and İHA reported.
Istanbul renewal figures
According to the minister, the renewal of 1.298 million homes in Istanbul has been completed, and work is continuing on 291,000 independent units, AA and İHA reported. He described a possible Istanbul earthquake as a national security issue, both agencies said.
