Two metrobuses collided at the Haramidere Sanayi stop in Istanbul’s Esenyurt district on Wednesday afternoon, 4 November, injuring several passengers, news agencies and Turkish outlets reported.
A metrobus that had stopped at the station in the Namık Kemal neighbourhood to take on passengers was hit from behind by another metrobus approaching the stop, the DHA news agency (via Memurlar.net), Milli Gazete and Diken reported.
Four to six injured
Reports of the number of injured differ: DHA, Milli Gazete and Diken said six people were hurt, while the İhlas News Agency (İHA) said four passengers were slightly injured.
Health, fire and police teams were sent to the scene after the crash was reported, and the injured were taken to hospital after first aid on site, DHA and İHA reported. Milli Gazete said no detailed information on the condition of the injured had been released and that the cause of the collision had not yet been determined. Police have opened an investigation, İHA and Milli Gazete reported.
Service back to normal
According to İHA, the metrobus that hit the other vehicle was travelling towards Beylikdüzü and failed to stop at the station. The crash caused congestion on the line, and services returned to normal after the two vehicles were removed, the agency said.
No time for the crash itself was given in the reports, which were first published shortly after 14:15. None of the reports included a statement from İETT, the municipal transport company that operates the line.
