Global index provider S&P Dow Jones Indices has decided to freeze some index changes involving stocks listed in Türkiye, citing concerns about the structure of the market and the transparency of shareholding information, Bloomberg HT, Ekotürk and YatırımX reported on Thursday morning.
No Turkish additions in December
According to the reports, S&P Dow Jones Indices will not add any Turkish securities to its indices at its December index review.
Quarterly or non-mandatory updates to the share counts and investable weight factors (IWFs) of stocks traded in Türkiye will also not be applied, the three outlets said.
The index provider said it is closely monitoring developments in Türkiye, Bloomberg HT and Ekotürk reported.
Türkiye placed on watch list
S&P Dow Jones Indices has also added Türkiye to its 2026/2027 Country Classification Watch List because of a possible change in its market status, Bloomberg HT and YatırımX reported.
Follows MSCI decision
The decision comes after MSCI froze some index changes for Turkish stocks last month and warned that Türkiye’s emerging market status could be at risk in the future, Bloomberg HT and YatırımX said.
