Turkish rail freight company Pasifik Eurasia announced on Oct. 12 that it will transport Kazakh wheat and bran to Türkiye over the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, targeting volumes of 30,000 tons per month.

The first order totals 16,380 tons and was placed under an agreement with Türkasya Railway Logistics and Trade, a company that trades grain between Kazakhstan and Türkiye. A trial shipment is scheduled to reach Yenice in the southern province of Mersin during October.

The company cautioned that the monthly target is not guaranteed, noting that actual volumes will depend on operating conditions and the business processes of the companies involved.

Riding the Middle Corridor

The shipments will travel along the so-called Middle Corridor, a multimodal route that combines rail, sea and road links. Cargo leaving Kazakhstan crosses the Caspian Sea before moving through Azerbaijan and Georgia into Türkiye.

The BTK line, about 850 kilometers long, has been in operation since 2017. According to Azerbaijan's transport authorities, upgrades to the Georgian section completed in 2024 raised the railway's annual freight capacity from 1 million tons to 5 million tons.

A growing niche player

Founded in 2019, Pasifik Eurasia specializes in international rail freight and multimodal logistics. It reported revenue of 2.5 billion liras (about $50.7 million) for 2025 and says it handles 95% of transportation on the BTK route using its own locomotives and trains.

The grain contract adds to the company's efforts to build east-west traffic through Türkiye. In June 2025, Pasifik Eurasia signed an international container transport agreement with China Railway International Multimodal, initially covering 10 block train services, with a first-phase goal of reaching 1,000 trains per year.

The success of the new service will depend on how smoothly cargo moves across the multiple borders and transshipment points along the corridor.
