The body of a 33-year-old German woman who went missing while hiking the Lycian Way between Kaş and Demre in Antalya province has been found in rocky terrain near the Üçağız neighbourhood of Kaş, Anadolu Agency (AA), the Demirören News Agency (DHA) and Sözcü reported.
Missing since 14 October
According to the reports, nothing had been heard from the hiker since 14 October, when she was walking the Kaş–Demre stage of the long-distance trail. Her relatives filed a missing-person report and also appealed for help on social media.
Gendarmerie and AFAD (Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) teams then launched a search of the trail and the surrounding terrain, supported by the Kaş-Kalkan team of the AKUT search and rescue association.
The body was found outside the marked route, in a rocky area about 700 to 800 metres from the sea, the reports said.
Autopsy to confirm identity
Demre District Governor Emin Bağlı said an identity document found on the body was believed to belong to the missing tourist and that her family had been informed. He said formal identification would be made after the autopsy and that a judicial investigation was under way.
None of the reports gave a cause of death.
