Consumer prices in Türkiye rose 2.58% in October from the previous month, and annual inflation stood at 29.77%, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on Tuesday, 3 November. The monthly increase was faster than September’s 1.84%, and the annual rate was almost unchanged from 29.73% a month earlier, according to figures reported by Yatırımx, Kocaeli Kent Gazetesi and Capital.

Prices rose 27.52% in the first ten months of the year compared with December 2025, while the 12-month average increase reached 31.23%. A year earlier, in October 2025, monthly inflation was 2.55% and the annual rate 32.87%.

Housing, transport and food

Of the main spending groups, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels showed the steepest annual rise among those reported, at 40.24%, with prices up 2.84% on the month. Transport prices were 36.39% higher than a year earlier after a 2.02% monthly increase, according to Yatırımx and Kocaeli Kent Gazetesi.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 3.50% in October alone, while their annual increase was 27.73%.

The national figures follow the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) data for the country’s largest city, which showed Istanbul retail prices up 2.47% in October and 32.47% year on year.

Above economists’ forecasts

The monthly reading was higher than the average forecast in an AA Finans survey of 21 economists, which pointed to a 2.20% monthly rise, with estimates ranging from 1.25% to 2.70%, and an annual rate of 29.28%, TR Haberleri and GZT reported. The same economists expected annual inflation to end 2026 at 29.64% on average. The central bank’s own October survey of market participants had put year-end inflation expectations at 29.63%.

Producer prices and the rent ceiling

TÜİK also said the domestic producer price index (Yİ-ÜFE) rose 1.65% in October and 27.41% on an annual basis, GZT and Kocaeli Kent Gazetesi reported.

The 12-month average consumer inflation figure of 31.23% is the maximum increase that landlords can apply to rents in November, according to Ege Telgraf and Kocaeli Kent Gazetesi. More on tenancies is in our guide to renting a home in Türkiye.
