Türkiye aims to raise the share of member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in its total exports from 27% to 30% by 2028, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said in Istanbul on Sunday, İhlas News Agency (İHA) and Demirören News Agency (DHA) reported.
Bolat was speaking at the opening of the second B57+ Business Leaders Summit, held alongside the 42nd meeting of İSEDAK, the OIC’s Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation.
The aim was not only to increase trade volume but to build more balanced, diversified and sustainable trade relations, Bolat said, according to both agencies.
Trade with OIC members
Türkiye’s trade with OIC countries rose from 87.6 billion dollars in 2013 to 119.1 billion dollars in 2025, the minister said. In the first nine months of 2026, trade with the group grew 8.2% year on year to 108.2 billion dollars, with Turkish exports to these countries reaching 55.2 billion dollars.
Citing the 2026 economic outlook of SESRIC Bolat said member states have a combined population of more than 2 billion people, about a quarter of the world total, and an economic size of around 10 trillion dollars. OIC economies grew 4.1% in 2025, above the world average, he said.
Trade among OIC members reached about 979 billion dollars in 2025, according to figures from the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) quoted by Bolat. That equals 19.57% of their total foreign trade, meaning about 80% of members’ trade is still with countries outside the organisation.
Bolat also referred to the Trade Preferential System among OIC member states (TPS-OIC), which entered into force on 1 July 2022, according to both reports.
The target comes after Türkiye posted record exports of 26 billion dollars in September.
