Umut Güner, the owner of the Turkish newspaper Dünya, was detained on Sunday morning as part of the fund investigation run by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, several Turkish outlets including Karar, 12punto, GZT and Haberler.com reported.
The reports did not say what specific allegations Güner faces, and no statement from him or his lawyers had been reported by late morning. Several outlets described the story as developing.

According to Karar, 12punto, TR TV and Haberler.com, Güner bought Dünya in 2024. The reports said Bulls Yatırım Holding holds a 20.45 percent stake in Dünya Holding, the group to which the newspaper belongs.
Bulls is one of the groups at the centre of the investigation. The Capital Markets Board (SPK), Türkiye’s securities regulator, earlier ordered the liquidation of 15 investment funds managed by Bulls Portföy, the same outlets reported.
Second high-profile detention in a day
Güner’s detention follows that of Borsa İstanbul General Manager Korkmaz Enes Ergun, who was taken into custody on Saturday evening. Our earlier report on the detention of the Borsa İstanbul general manager has more details.
Haberler.com and Kent Gazetesi reported that the number of people arrested in the investigation had reached 120 by late October. The reports did not say when Güner would be questioned or referred to court.
Investors affected by the liquidations have been receiving interim payments, as set out in our report on the start of interim payouts to fund investors.
