Large parts of Finike, a coastal district in western Antalya, will have no water or low pressure on Monday, 26 October, while a fault on the main supply lines is repaired. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality announced the outage, local outlet Akdeniz Gerçek reported late on Sunday.
The repairs start in the morning and are expected to be finished at around 16:00, according to the municipality’s notice. It did not give an exact start time and urged residents to store enough water in advance for basic needs.
Affected neighbourhoods
The notice lists the following neighbourhoods (mahalle) in Finike: Karşıyaka, Eski, Yeni, Kale, Kızılca, İskele, Kum, Sahilkent, Hasyurt, Yeşilyurt, Turunçova and Gökbük. The Kapıçayı area of Yalnız neighbourhood is also affected.
The cut falls on a difficult day for western Antalya. The Turkish State Meteorological Service has a yellow warning in force for Monday for Finike and nearby districts such as Kaş, Kemer, Kumluca and Demre, with heavy showers forecast, as we reported on Sunday. Planned electricity work is also under way in parts of the province this week; see our list of Antalya power cuts for 25-27 October.
What it means for residents
Anyone living in, renting or staying in the listed areas, including holiday-let guests, should fill containers before the work begins on Monday morning and plan for the cut to last into the afternoon. Repairs can overrun, so the 16:00 finish is an estimate rather than a guarantee.
The announcement came from Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, which is the body to follow for updates on the repair. For more on everyday life in the province, see our Antalya living guide.
