Planned power cuts are scheduled in about 20 of İzmir’s districts on Saturday, 7 November, according to lists from the regional electricity distributor Gediz Elektrik (GDZ) published by Son Mühür and İz Gazete. Most daytime outages fall between 09:00 and 17:30 and are listed as maintenance or grid renewal work, while parts of central Karşıyaka face short, rolling cuts in the evening.
Gediz Elektrik runs the local distribution network in İzmir and Manisa. Planned cuts are announced in advance and usually affect specific streets within a neighbourhood rather than the whole area, and finish times can change as work goes on.
Evening cuts in Karşıyaka
In Karşıyaka, a series of half-hour cuts is planned between 20:00 and 22:30, both outlets reported:
- 20:00 to 20:30: Alaybey, Bahariye, Bahçelievler, Tersane and Tuna
- 20:30 to 21:00: Dedebaşı and Goncalar
- 21:00 to 21:30: Bahariye, Bahçelievler, Tersane and Tuna again
- 21:30 to 22:00: Bahriye Üçok and Nergiz
- 22:00 to 22:30: Donanmacı and Tuna
City centre and coast
In Konak, part of Mimar Sinan is listed for 09:00 to 11:00. In Bayraklı, Org. Nafiz Gürman and Yamanlar face cuts from 09:00 to 16:00. In Bornova, Meriç is listed for 09:30 to 10:30 and Gazi Osman Paşa for 10:30 to 12:30, while in Buca part of Fırat is affected from 13:00 to 17:00.
Karabağlar has several short windows: Kibar from 08:00 to 10:00, Gazi and Umut from 10:30 to 12:30, Umut again from 13:00 to 15:00, and General Kazım Özalp and Muammer Akar from 15:30 to 17:00.
On the coast, part of Alaçatı in Çeşme is listed for 11:00 to 17:00. In Urla, İçmeler faces a cut from 09:00 to 17:00, and in Seferihisar, Düzce, Turgut and Ulamış are listed for 10:00 to 17:30. A cut from 09:30 to 14:30 is also planned in part of Güzelbahçe. In Foça, Fatih, Fevzi Çakmak and İsmetpaşa are listed for 09:00 to 17:00.
Outer districts
In Menemen, around 30 neighbourhoods, including Emiralem, face a cut from 10:00 to 12:00, with a longer outage from 09:00 to 15:00 in Ahıhıdır, Camiikebir, Çavuş, Doğa, Mermerli, Musabey, Yahşelli, Yanıkköy and Yıldırım. In Menderes, Görece Cumhuriyet is listed for 09:00 to 17:00.
Torbalı has cuts in Arslanlar, Eğerci, Gazi Mustafa Kemal, Torbalı and Yedi Eylül from 10:00 to 14:00, and in Bahçelievler, İnönü and Yazıbaşı from 13:00 to 17:00. In Aliağa, Örnekkent and Yeni are affected from 10:00 to 13:00, and Örnekkent again from 13:00 to 16:00.
Cuts are also listed in Bayındır, Bergama, Kemalpaşa, Kiraz, Ödemiş and Tire, mostly in rural neighbourhoods.
The published lists are street-level, and the times are Gediz Elektrik’s plans, which can change on the day.
