Türkiye’s General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain in the Black Sea provinces of Ordu and Giresun for Saturday, 31 October, and forecast showers and thunderstorms across large parts of the country, according to its bulletin as reported by 12punto and Timeturk.
Flood risk on the Black Sea coast
MGM said rain in the Ordu and Giresun area was expected to begin overnight and could be locally heavy during the day, and urged caution against flooding and flash floods.
Showers in many regions
According to the bulletin, skies will be partly to very cloudy nationwide, with showers and at times thunderstorms in eastern Marmara and around Edirne, the Aegean region, western and eastern parts of the Mediterranean, the north of Central Anatolia, the western and central Black Sea and the eastern Black Sea coast, and most of Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. In many provinces the rain is expected to intensify after midday.
Temperatures are forecast to be close to seasonal norms, and 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal in the north and east. Winds will mostly be light to moderate from the south, turning northeasterly in the northwest.
Heavy rain caused flooding in several provinces earlier this week; see overnight floods in Mersin and Adıyaman.
