Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said on Thursday that investors in Turkish funds placed under liquidation have so far received 130.2 billion lira, as he presented his ministry’s 2027 budget to parliament’s Plan and Budget Committee, Habertürk, Borsa Gündem and 12punto reported.
The payments have gone to 614,874 accounts in 108 funds, belonging to 420,031 individuals, according to Habertürk, 12punto and Bursada Bugün. Of these, 179,449 people have recovered their full net investment, the same outlets reported.
Two liquidation tracks
Şimşek broke the total down into two processes. Under ordinary liquidation, 68 billion lira has been paid to 71,899 accounts across 93 funds, Borsanın Gündemi and Bursada Bugün reported.
Under the extraordinary liquidation, interim payments had reached 62.2 billion lira for 542,975 accounts in 15 funds as of 4 November, according to Habertürk, Borsa Gündem and 12punto.
MASAK, the Financial Crimes Investigation Board, is working to identify the assets of those who made unfair or excessive gains from the funds and to bring assets held abroad back to Türkiye, Habertürk and 12punto reported. As of 4 November, around 3.8 billion lira in 100 transactions had been postponed, and about 9 billion lira in assets had been identified with counterpart bodies in 36 countries and reported to the judicial authorities, according to Habertürk, Borsa Gündem and Borsanın Gündemi.
Şimşek said further steps would be taken to strengthen investor confidence and the healthy functioning of capital markets, Habertürk and Borsanın Gündemi reported. A draft regulation focuses on tougher sanctions against market manipulation and stronger institutional capacity, according to Habertürk and 12punto.
Pensioners, employers and late-payment rates
On the budget itself, Şimşek said the 2027 budget had created room to support pensioners’ purchasing power, Habertürk, Borsa Gündem and 12punto reported. No amount was given.
The minimum wage support paid to employers for each worker will rise in 2027, and premium support for employers in certain manufacturing sectors and in tourism that keep their staff will also be increased, Borsanın Gündemi and Bursada Bugün reported. Şimşek also said the government plans to lower the late-payment surcharge (gecikme zammı) and deferral interest rates in line with market conditions, according to the same outlets. No new rates were announced.
Disinflation expected in 2027
The minister said disinflation would continue in 2027, supported by a tight monetary stance, moderate domestic demand and improving inflation expectations, Memurlar.net, Borsanın Gündemi and Bursada Bugün reported. He also cited easing inertia in services inflation and an expected fall in global commodity prices, according to Memurlar.net and Borsanın Gündemi.
