Türkiye has awarded 1,500 megawatts of new wind power capacity at seven sites in four provinces, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced on Monday. Anadolu Agency (AA) and the Hibya news agency reported the ministry statement on the YEKA RES-2026 competitions.

The tenders, held under the Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) model, covered areas in Sivas, Balıkesir, Manisa and Kütahya.

Bids and contribution fee

According to the ministry, 12 companies made a total of 29 applications. Bayraktar described the competitions as highly competitive. The tenders produced contribution fees of 75.5 million euros including VAT, AA and Hibya reported.

The energy news sites Enerji Ajansı and Yeşil Ekonomi, which published the site-by-site results, said five companies won the seven areas and put the total contribution fee at 62.92 million euros, which matches the ministry’s figure before 20% VAT. According to both outlets:

– Egesa Elektrik won R26-Balıkesir-2 and R26-Manisa (235 MW each). – FE Girişim Enerji won R26-Balıkesir-3 (170 MW) and R26-Balıkesir-4 (140 MW). – Metgün Enerji won R26-Sivas (320 MW). – Ecogreen Elektrik won R26-Kütahya (260 MW). – Poyraz Yenilenebilir Enerji won R26-Balıkesir-1 (140 MW).

Both outlets said Balıkesir-4 was the most contested site, decided after 34 rounds with the highest fee of 154,000 euros per megawatt.

Price terms and expected output

Under the terms described by the ministry, winners may sell electricity on the open market for 72 months from contract signing. After that, they will sell to the grid for 20 years with a floor price of 3.50 euro cents per kilowatt-hour.

The ministry expects the new plants to generate about 4.6 billion kWh a year, enough for around 2 million households, and said this would replace natural gas imports worth about 852 million dollars a year.

Bayraktar said the results would lower electricity production costs and expressed hope that the capacity would be brought into service as soon as possible. No timetable for construction was given.
